Mr. Gomes’ career in casino operations began in Las Vegas where he is a product of the MGM Mirage Management Training Program specializing in slot operations. The MGM Mirage Management Training Program is an intense cross-training program in which one individual is chosen from each of MGM Mirage properties to train in all hotel and casino departments. The individuals selected work in every department from working as a dishwasher to time with the property presidents and every department in between.
In slot operations at the Mirage Casino Resort, Aaron worked as a slot attendant, a slot technician, a slot supervisor, and a slot shift manager after completion of the management training program. When Aaron decided that he wanted to learn more about the marketing side as opposed to the operational side of the casino, he transitioned into slot marketing and was appointed as a Slot Marketing executive in the Mirage Marketing Department.
While in slot marketing, Aaron was responsible for creating, implementing and analyzing all slot marketing initiatives. His duties included creating pre-event pro-formas, post-event gaming analyses, managing slot tournaments, and analyzing customer and host profitability.
After slot marketing, Aaron transitioned into the Casino Marketing Department where he was responsible for all casino table games and slot direct mail campaigns from start to finish, the management of the casino room blocks, all casino events, the casino hosts, the creation and implementation of seasonal promotions, and analyzing and insuring the overall profitability of the casino.
In 2007, Aaron joined the Gomes Gaming Management team as Vice President of Marketing and Operations to develop, open, and manage a 2,000 slot machine casino in Indianapolis called Indiana Live. Aaron was responsible for the Slot Department, the Marketing Department, and the execution and negotiation of casino related contracts. In 2008, alone Aaron negotiated contracts for the purchase of over $40 million in casino related gaming equipment and achieved unparalleled discounts and concessions from these gaming equipment manufacturers.
Aaron has extensive training and expertise in all areas of casino marketing, including direct marketing strategic and operational implementation, developing CRM strategies, bus marketing programs, and the development of loyalty programs. He is one of the few high-level marketing executives that can log into the database, write code and pull the data himself. Operationally Aaron’s focus is on casino floor analysis, budget creation and implementation, slot bonusing, casino game mix, and creating operational efficiencies.
Prior to getting into the operational side of casinos, Aaron worked for two years with the three partners at MRA International in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. MRA International is a real estate development firm specializing in casino developments around the world.
Aaron Gomes is an Ivy League graduate with a degree in Economic History from the University of Pennsylvania where he played on the university’s NCAA Division 1 soccer team. In addition, Aaron has an MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.
